Ok Chopin.
It's just you and me now - cause no one reads my Classical Piano
Seminar.
So be honest with me - Chopin.
Didja throw in five etudes that are really not etudes?
And are three of them among the most beautiful pieces of music
ever written?
Which three are they - Chopin?
Let me take a wild f*ing guess.
~The Opus 10 no 3 in EM
~The Opus 25 no 1 in Aflat M
~The Opus 25 no 7 in C# m
And Chopin - did you throw in two of the most exciting
pieces ever written to try to trip us up - huh didya Chopin?
Did you think in your brilliant mind - Those people are
so stupid that they'll never see that these two are not
really etudes?
And are these it - Chopin?
~The Opus 10 no 12 in Cm
~The Opus 25 no 11 in Am
What's that you say- Chopin?
I thought so.
But I don't mean to offend.
We are eternally grateful to you for the wonderful piano
music you Composed.
Thank you - Chopin.
by the way I read that Glenn Gould said that he only plays
your music when he's really bored
One Joke - I couldn't resist.
Other than the funeral march, I could never get into Chopin. I'll be more interested when you get into the Grieg and Tchaikovsky concertos.

Mike - Thanks for your comment here.
ReplyDeleteI could do that.
I don't believe - though - that I am familiar with any Tchaikovsky concertos - although I am the one Grieg Concerto.
I'll get back to you on this.
Thanks Mike - more than you'll ever know.
Piano could be the Key to opening The Door of my Future.
Mike - I googled Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto
ReplyDeleteNo. 1 in Bflat minor - but after the beginning part - the really moving theme played so well by Van Cliburn - I just lost the Thread.
Something I never do with the Rach 3 .
I'll check out the Grieg and get back to you.
Mike - Grieg's Piano Concerto in am just doesn't grab me. I can tell right at the first if something is going to grab me.
ReplyDeleteEver listen to Beethhoven's Violin Concerto (he only wrote one) - Mike?
If you recall it begins with the true mark of a Genius:
for timpani beats
Just like that you Just Know - that what follows is going to be Genius.
And that's what the Rach 3 is: Pure Genius
and if I could learn and memorize it I'm quite sure that at the end I would fall over and bonk my head on piano like the guy in Shine :]
and then speak in tongues for the rest of my life like Geoffrye Rush.
ReplyDeleteSue,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're pretty skilled on the piano. If you have the time and energy to spend on it, I think that would be a worthy pursuit. I'm just a hack on the piano, so if one of us is going to learn those pieces, it's going to have to be you.
I'm not familiar with Beethoven's violin concerto. I know Bach and Vivaldi have a couple good ones.
--big fat tio mike
Why thank you Mike.
ReplyDeleteI intend to do that very thing...
right after I get a Divorce.
And I don't trust anyone who says they are a hack on the Piano - because I've fallen for that one before. See - they say that and
then have you play first then they play and make you look like a fool. : ]
Maybe someday - however - I can kill Liebestraume for you - or something similar.
And I'll check out the Bach and Vivaldi violin concertos and get back to you - but not tonight because I've had a really big day.
And by the way - Mike - as far as I'm concerned you can't touch
violinists - or cellists. Compared to them playing the piano is a piece of cake.
Thanks Mike.
Sue,
ReplyDeleteSorry you are going through a rough time. I pray that things work out for you and that God would give you a sense of peace.
I'm pretty sure I'm a hack on the piano compared to you. A couple of hymns are probably the hardest thing I can play. I don't read music fast enough, so I have to memorize the piece if I want to play it at a decent tempo. Other than that, I play some dumbed down versions of some classical music and pop songs.
bftm
Mike - Thanks for the kind words. Funny thing is - God has already given me that 'peace' - now I just want a divorce.
ReplyDeleteYou say you can memorize music - actually that is hard for me.
And I can't play the really great music that I want to - up to speed.
But I'm really good at expressive music - I can't wait to get at the c#m Etude that I mentioned in my post. That's what I'm best at. But I want to play the fast, exciting stuff.
I hope everything is going well for you in the New Year - Mike.
I enjoy our discussions.
I'm gonna check out the violin concertos and comment about it here.
